I understand English fluently, so I can tell the dub is overacted, overexaggerated and poorly done. Seriously, it sounds like a bunch of kids and robots linked up and decided to do some voice acting.
But dub is just so much better, I'd rather be able to actually understand what I'm hearing. If you're to busy in your pipe dream that "sub must be good because I can't understand it" then I don't know what you want me to say.
The dub is inferior because of all the terrible voices. The majority of the voices are an assault on the ears. Honestly I just like the Japanese pronounciations of everything more than their English adaptations.
Anyway, FT has some incredibly talented voice actors, for both sub and sub. I prefer dub all the way generally, Japanese is just too annoying to listen to.
And ft has one of the better dubs too. I definitely prefer Sub. The reactions are just so much funnier to me. I did watch one of the movies in dub for a friend who preferred that but it was so much sillier sounding and just took me away from it a bit but overall it was good.
I do however prefer the young-ish sounding Natsu in the dub over the deeper-voices nastu in the sun. I just think it fits better with his immaturity.
When the new season of Fairy Tail came out I decided to watch the series in dub from beginning, at first I didn't like it but I grown to like it and imo it is amazing I'm currently at edolas.
The Dub voice for Happy kills it for me, totally different character from Sub. Not to mention the pointless edits to the script such as a clip someone posted a while back where happy says "Soups done" while holding a spatula, in the sub he just says "Foods done".
Idk why but I think the Sub is just what I am used to, their voices, the soundtracks and all that. The dialogue for the subbed, or the fansub i guess, is pretty cheesy and clunky.
I prefer the sub's voices but the dub's less awkward dialogue. I cannot deal with the dub. I started with dub but switched to Sub soon after because the voice acting was just meh Sub is definitely my fave for FT.
