Teasing a jewish character as the bad guy, then predictably making the a white christian evil incarnate … Expand. I liked the movie. It kept my interest although it took awhile to figure out who was good and who was bad, but that is the some of the fun.

It was a fun movie and the way Pierce Brosnan kept "teaching" his student was great plus all the other stuff going on that gets clearer as the movie progresses.

The intricacies of a spy movie plot often become bogged down by the twists and turns, making it difficult to understand the significance of whatever is happening.
Also the many different locals of a spy movie make it confusing. So I was relieved that The November Man actually paid off in both story, character, and action.
This movie stills makes you pay careful attention, but it is very accessible and user-friendly.
The plot revolves around two CIA agents in a mentor-student relationship. Pierce Brosnan plays a seasoned spy, Devereaux, and some other guy plays his pupil, Mason.
They quickly split after a botched mission drives them a part right from the start of the movie. This scene alone sets the stage for a very thrilling back and forth between them as their paths later cross and their interests are at odds with each other.
The rest of the story involves a would-be Russian president and other very interesting characters. Suffice to say the lead characters are rich in development as are the others.

He's supposed to simply rescue a fellow asset in the field, when he gets drawn into a world wide conspiracy.
I've never been that crazy about spy movies to begin with, because it seems like it's always the same thing. The story goes back and fourth, with crosses and double-crosses, leading to one fight after another and The November Man isn't much different.
Brosnan is supposed to be the best agent there ever was, the deadliest, most intimidating man there ever was.
Now I don't know about you, but I don't find a hundred pound British guy in his sixties to be all that intimidating.
Given Brosnan's age, the film really didn't have much in the way of fight scenes, just poorly executed car chases and a whole lot of shooting.
Even the dialogue in this thing was a joke, with classic Bond lines, and an enemy hiding beyond every door. The bottom line, The November Man is a cliche, with a star who is much too old to be playing the guy all the action is centered around.
Luke Bracey, who plays Brosnan's former protege and nemesis, would have been much more believable as The November Man, even still, this film was just poorly written and executed all around.
At one time, Pierce Brosnan was one of the best, but The November Man proves that it's time to for him to stop being the man, and start being the one behind the curtain, who controls the man.

The story follows ex-CIA agent Peter Devereaux who's called upon to help extract a covert operative that has obtained critical information about a prominent Russian general, but when the mission is blown Devereaux goes rogue and has to find the operative's contact.
Pierce Brosnan and Olga Kurylenko both give strong performances and have good onscreen chemistry. The script however, is a bit of a mess; with twists upon twists.
Yet, the action scenes keep the film moving and add intensity and suspense. While The November Man follows the typical formula for a spy thriller, it's still fun and exciting.

It's a pretty low budget flick. Clearly, Brosnan is the main attraction with Olga Kurylenko interestingly enough a former Bond girl coming in at a close second.
What surprises me most and continues to do so with these older actors is they take roles clearly beneath their stature. Luke Bracey is not convincing.
I won't bother with the rest of the cast due to the fact none of them stand out as impressive cast members who contribute anything outside of being a body to fill space.
It's not a total loss though. The plot is actually engaging with a twist here and there, but nothing you don't see coming from a mile away.
The action scenes are a bit stunted and some of the editing is just poor in between normal takes. It makes the flow feel choppy. I did enjoy the preciseness of Brosnan's gun play.
With age comes a bit of a slow down for the year-old, but unlike some of the other aging action heroes who have taken this route to one-man wrecking crews, this lags behind the ingenuity and originality of some of the more recent movies we've seen to date.

Pierce Brosnan is obviously no stranger to the espionage genre, so he knows how to play this role pretty well. Olga Kurylenko is also good, as always.

Alexa finds Filipova at the station; but is knocked unconscious by her, who returns, finishes typing and sends it to the press.
He returns to Hanley and helps Devereaux kill Hanley's men and subdue Hanley. Devereaux unites with Lucy and Filipova and they leave on the train.
